A versão definitiva do piloto de TBBT começa como a versão rejeitada. Os amigos e roomates Leonard e Sheldon comparecem a um posto de coleta de esperma especializado em doadores de QI alto. Eles querem o dinheiro da doação para melhorar a conexão da internet no apartamento onde moram.

Como apresentar, na prática, a característica principal dos protagonistas? Não basta apenas dizer que possuem QI de gênio. Leonard e Sheldon querem ser atendidos logo, mas a recepcionista está preenchendo palavras cruzadas. Para acelerar o atendimento, Leonardo dá uma olhada na revista que ela preenche e em segundos dá todas as respostas que ela precisa. (“Um na horizontal é Egeu, oito na vertical é Nabakov, vinte e seis na horizontal é MCM, quatorze na vertical é... mova o dedo... filo, o que dá quatorze na horizontal Porto Príncipe. Leonard e Sheldon começam a preencher seus formulários. Mas Sheldon está especialmente incomodado já que nada garante que os possíveis filhos gerados a partir de seus espermas possa gerar filhos inteligentes. Seria um ataque de honestidade? Foi uma manifestação de vaidade. Sheldon está preocupado em gerar um filho que não saiba o diferencial de cálculo numa curva. Os dois decidem desistir da doação.

O minuto dois mostra os dois subindo as escadas do edifício pobre onde moram, pois o elevador está quebrado. A cena, simples, mostra que apesar de gênios eles vivem precariamente e estão conformados com isso. Vivem num universo paralelo, pois sobem os degraus fazendo teorias sobre a própria escada e a probabilidade de suas imperfeições provocar acidentes.

Nos poucos minutos iniciais, temos uma amostra da ligação entre Sheldon e Leonard como best friends. Eles aparentemente vivem o mesmo tipo de vida e se completam nas semelhanças. Sheldon parece mais arrogante e anti social que Leonard, mas é apenas uma questão de gradação.

Quando chegam ao andar onde moram - ainda antes dos créditos - acontece o maior de todos os plot points do piloto. O apartamento da frente está com a porta aberta. E dentro do apartamento está Penny, com suas roupas curtas e seu jeito inocente.

The final version of the TBBT pilot begins as the rejected version. Friends and roommates Leonard and Sheldon show up at a sperm collection center that specializes in high IQ donors. They want the money from the donation to improve the internet connection in their apartment.

How do you present, in practice, the main characteristic of the protagonists? It's not enough to just say that they have a genius IQ. Leonard and Sheldon want to be seen right away, but the receptionist is filling out a crossword puzzle. To speed up the service, Leonardo glances at the magazine she is filling out and in seconds gives her all the answers she needs. (“One horizontally is Aegean, eight vertically is Nabakov, twenty-six horizontally is MCM, fourteen vertically is... move your finger... filo, which makes fourteen horizontally Port-au-Prince. See, Papa Doc's main idea is Port-au-Prince. Haiti.”)

Leonard and Sheldon have started filling out their forms. But Sheldon is especially worried since there is no guarantee that the potential children generated from his sperm will produce intelligent children. Was this an act of honesty? It was a manifestation of vanity. Sheldon is worried about fathering a child who doesn't know the difference in design on a curve. The two decide to give up on the donation.

Minute two shows the two climbing the stairs of the poor building where they live, because the elevator is broken. The simple scene shows that despite being geniuses, they live precariously and are resigned to it. They live in a parallel universe, as they climb the steps making theories about the staircase itself and the probability of its imperfections causing accidents.

In the first few minutes, we get a glimpse of the bond between Sheldon and Leonard as best friends. They apparently live the same kind of life and complement each other in their similarities. Sheldon seems more arrogant and antisocial than Leonard, but it's just a matter of gradation.

When he gets to the floor where they live - before the credits - the biggest plot point of all in the pilot happens. The apartment in front has an open door. And inside the apartment is Penny, with her short clothes and her innocent demeanor.
